Tai Chi

Short film: a Taiji Master comes to Rome to make a new home

I recently came across this rather sweet short film about a Chinese Taiji master who moves to Rome and how he comes to know his new home and adapts to his new life. Its a very touching film I found and I also enjoyed the way in which it portrayed Chinese culture in a sympathetic way, but also in a way that supports the story. The film is played by a real Taiji master, Li Rong Wei, who teaches Chinese martial arts in Italy. He is a 7th generation descendant of Lan Shou Pai Men, as well he teaches Tai Chi Chuan, Ba Gua Chuan, Hsing I Chuan, and Qi Gong. You can find out more information about Li Rong Wei and his school at this link for his school’s website: http://www.lirongwei.it/

Lin Fei

from

A short movie about a day in the life of a chinese Taiji master in Rome.
Shot in HDV, with a Sony HVR-HZ1, edited in FCP.

“Lin Fei” is a short film about a Tai Chi master trying to find his way in a new country. Lin Fei is a new immigrant in the city of Rome, Italy. He struggles to find his way in this new city of different language and customs. It seems all he wants to do is to find a quite place to practice his Tai Chi,  as he misses the familiarity of his old home and the closeness of the family he left.

I hope you enjoy this film as  much as I did. It is interesting to see Taiji depicted in this drama and outside of the normal “kung fu” movies style. Enjoy!
